The Pandemic presents humanity with the dilemma of trying to reconcile individual freedom with the safety of the collective. It juxtaposes the efficiency of social authority with the messy disorder of individual freedom. The individual represents the conscious peak of the social collective and plays an indispensable role in its evolution. The collective is the gene bank of all human aspirations and capacities for social evolution. Neither can thrive without the other. This session contemplates their interdependent and complementary roles in a comprehensive theory of change, social development and social evolution and seeks more effective ways to reconcile social harmony with individual rights and cultural diversity.
