Dr Jo Nurse and Isabella Bunn from the Planetary Arts Committee were delighted to be invited to the launch event of the Commonwealth Creative Industries Alliance at Marlborough House, London, on 8 September 2026.
The event brought together an alliance of Commonwealth organizations that support and enable the Arts, Culture, Film, Music and Performance, Fashion, Architecture and Museums across 56 countries worldwide.
The case for actively investing in the Arts was made from around the Commonwealth countries, benefiting creativity, innovation, cultural capital, sustainability as well as strengthening trade, employment and economic development. The role that cultural growth can play for low-income women, young people and small island states was especially emphasized.
The newly formed Alliance will share community-based experiences and policy solutions on how the arts and culture can support multilateralism and enable sustainable development at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting to be held in Antigua and Barbuda in November 2026.
