Education is the most sophisticated technology evolved by human beings for conscious social evolution. Yet the slow incremental development of education in recent decades has not kept pace with the very rapid evolution of society. Closing the gap between educational needs and capacities is essential for addressing pressing challenges confronting humanity today. There is urgent need to evolve a new human-centered paradigm in education appropriate to the needs of the 21st century.
This webinar examined critical issues in higher education today and identified core strategies that can be adopted to close the gap between humanity’s past experience and its future needs. These strategies will form the content of a more in-depth exploration of essential changes in perspective, goals, values, content and pedagogy of higher education at Inter -University Centre, Dubrovnik on September 21-23, 2015, which will frame the syllabus for development of a post-graduate level course.
